The International Orality Network (ION) is a prime mover of the global orality movement, which is a strategic priority component of the third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization in October 2010 in Capetown, South Africa. ION subscribes to the Lausanne Covenant and it is a collegial body of mission organizations and movements like Call2All, Campus Crusade for Christ, Summer Institute of Linguistics, Wycliffe Bible Translators, Faith Comes by Hearing, Global Recordings Network, Heart Sounds, International Mission Board, One Story Partnership, Youth With A Mission, and Trans World Radio, to name a few.
Wycliffe Bible Translators Philippines, Inc. is launching the ION Philippines, together with its partners – PMA/PCEC, Biblica/PJM, PBS, PLS, CPLI, SILP, TAP, AGST & PABATS. ION Philippines is an alliance of individuals, churches, missions, and like-minded associations that are committed to making Christ-disciples of Oral learners. We do this by mutual encouragement, training opportunities, information sharing and collaboration, believing that those who have never had a chance to receive the Gospel of the Lord Jesus – those who are unreached and Bibleless people groups – are largely Oral learners and would require Great Commission strategies that cater to Oral cultures.
Wycliffe Philippines is honored to further advance the orality movement in the Philippines with the ION Manila Conference. We are blessed to have two of key leaders of the orality movement for the morning plenary sessions and orality practitioners for the afternoon intensive seminar-workshops.
Rev. Samuel Chiang is the President and CEO of the Seed Company and Senior Associate for Orality of the Lausanne Congress. His plenary address will deal with the Global State of Missions and the Need for Orality.
Dr. David Swarr is the President and CEO of the 4.2.20 Foundation and the Executive Director of ION. His plenary address will deal with Orality in Missions and the Advance of Orality Movements.
The afternoon seminar-workshops will have intensive treatment on Great Commission strategies on engaging Oral Cultures such as, Oral Bible Storying, Arts in Missions – Ethnoarts, Language and Culture Learning – Salitaral, Missions Research Among Oral Cultures, How the Bible Came to Us.
